Hot Cocoa

Now that the colder winter months have arrived, it’s time to bundle up with our refined sugar-free hot chocolate!

Are you still drinking Swiss Miss? STOP RIGHT NOW!

👎🏻 THEIRS is filled with a laundry list of hard to pronounce “ingredients” and additives.

👍 OURS takes a few minutes to make and is made with 5 simple ingredients.

🧋 Whenever my kids want chocolate milk, we follow this exact recipe but chill it (and often send it to school!). Even the boxed organic chocolate milks contain gellan gum and “natural flavors” that aren’t so natural after all. Making yours homemade not only tastes better but is better for you!

Ingredients
 2 cups milk of choice
 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
¾ tsp pure organic vanilla extract
 Pinch of sea salt
Toppings (optional)
Whipped creamWe've also used oat whipped cream when dairy-free
 Vegan mini marshmallows
 Cacao nibs/chocolate shavings
1

In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil.

2

Reduce heat to a simmer and stir in the cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Whisk well.

3

Pour into cups and top with optional whipped cream, marshmallows, and cacao nibs. If turning into chocolate milk, chill in the fridge for an hour. Enjoy!
