(Healthier) Hot Cocoa

Our healthier hot chocolate recipe uses plant-based milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, pure maple syrup, and vanilla extract as a warm winter treat without all the sugars! Kid-friendly and delicious, Liv & Sawyer always get excited for the colder winter months so I'll make this for them!

 2 cups almond milk
 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
 2 tbsp maple syrup
 ¾ tsp pure organic vanilla extract
 Pinch of sea salt
Toppings (optional)
 Foamed milk
 Whipped creamWe've also used oat whipped cream when dairy-free
 Cacao nibs/chocolate shavings

In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil.

Reduce heat to a simmer and stir in the cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Whisk well.

Pour into cups and top with optional foamed milk, whipped cream, marshmallows, and cacao nibs. Enjoy!
