With school ending and camp beginning, we indulged Liv and her cousins by hosting their very first sleepover party (it’s called a sleepover yet there is VERY LITTLE SLEEP!!). In livlaughcook fashion, we centered the weekend around making food (is there any other way??). We started the night out with a make your own pizza bar… this not only kept the kids occupied for a while so the adults could relax, but also served the purpose of having our kids make the dinner for us… WIN-WIN. I was going to have caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, and garlic and oil sauteed spinach as toppings for the kids, but luckily I called my sister-in-law beforehand and she told me to stick with cheese and make it simple so no one complains about vegetables on their pizza. Next on our agenda was an ice cream sundae station. We upped our sugar level in this house and bought as much crap as we could find… and Liv loved every minute of it. At one point I turned around, and she was eating ice cream straight out of the carton. She knew she could take advantage that night and consumed half her body weight in sprinkles and MnMs (and now I realize where the lack of sleep came from!!). The kids stayed up late to watch Aladdin, and finally fell asleep around 11:30pm. Josh was pretty excited that they fell asleep so late thinking they’d all sleep in til noon. (This is the point where I was silently dying of laughter.) So 6am rolls on in, and guess who’s up and ready for waffles!! I think this was the first time ever that Liv woke up before Sawyer. Poor kid woke up a little bit later after all the elephants stomping around the house made enough noise to wake him. The kids loved making waffles with Josh, and while I decorated mine with fruit, they all chose the previous night’s sprinkles and MnMs (shocking). We finished the day off with craft-making and some Play-doh and ended the weekend on a high note. The kids left begging for another sleepover, so I’d say it was a complete success.
