“Mommy & Me” Margaritas

Rating0.0

The name is literal: there are two recipes on this page, one with tequila and Cointreau for you and one without for whoever is pulling on your leg while you make it. Both are built on the same citrus — clementine or mandarin juice alongside the lime, which is what makes them taste less sharp than a standard margarita. The grown-up version gets shaken and strained over fresh ice so it is not watery; the kids’ version can be shaken, or just stirred in a pitcher with seltzer.

Alcoholic Margarita
 2 oz Silver tequila
 2 oz Cointreau
 1 lime, juiced
 1 clementine or mandarin, juiced
 Ice
 Course salt
Non-Alcoholic Margarita
 2 clementines or mandarins, juiced
 1 lemon, juiced
 1 lime, juiced
½ tsp pure maple syrup, optional
3 ½ oz water or seltzer
 Ice
Alcoholic Margarita
1

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and clementine juice. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds.

2

Take a lime, cut in half, and rub around the rim of chilled wine glass.

3

Place salt on a plate. Press the rim of the glass into the salt to rim the edge.

4

Strain margarita into the glass (without the ice). Once finished, add in new ice. Leave lime half on the rim or squeeze in juice if more is desired.

Non-Alcoholic Margarita
5

If using water instead of seltzer: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in all ingredients. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. Serve with a lime wedge and enjoy!

6

If using seltzer, fill a pitcher with ice. Pour in all ingredients. Use a large spoon and mix well. Serve with a lime wedge and enjoy!
